LITERACY BASED DRAMA WORKSHOP: KS2
BRINGING A STORY TO LIFE – INTERACTIVE DRAMA WORKSHOP
Books and stories are a great source of creative inspiration which can empower children, stimulate their imaginations and enhance learning and literacy skills. Bringing a story to life through drama deepens their knowledge of the text, its themes, and characters which encourages an emotional connection to the work. In our drama workshop, you choose the story – be it a traditional tale, a fairy story or a fable, have a look at our selected stories below or select a scene from a book you are working. The pupils themselves, led by our facilitator, bring the story to life using drama techniques, tableaux, language, action and props. Just let us know which story you would like to work on and we will do the rest.
We can work with four classes throughout the day on a one hour long drama workshop or go more in depth with two classes on a two hour long drama workshop. The two hour drama workshop develops the work they have already done on the story and then pupils get to make their own versions of scenes in the style of the author. This can lead on to them to writing out the scenes that they have created, and to further creative writing sessions in the classroom.
