HISTORY DRAMA WORKSHOPS
If you just have one class and want to work on a performance that you can show at the end of the school day we would recommend you choose a History Play in a Day.
Alternately, if you have more than one class choose our History Drama Workshop where our facilitator will take your children back to events in history using drama games, activities, and techniques to bring real life characters and events to life.
In one day we can either:
Work with two classes on a two hour workshop. The first hour is spent on drama games and activities to bring the story to life, the second hour is spent with the pupils creating their own drama performance of the History event.
Work with four classes for one hour each – the workshop uses drama games, activities and techniques to bring the History Event to life.
History Topics to choose from:
Ancient Egypt - Come with us as we sail down the Nile, descend into an ancient tomb, climb the pyramids and bow down to Ra the God of the Sun– but keep an eye out for scorpions – they sting!
Ancient Greeks – Athena and Ares are fighting again, and Poseidon is raising a storm! Our Olympic athletes compete and Athens and Sparta fight to reign supreme! Watch out for thunderbolts!
Aztecs - Look out for an eagle, sitting on a cactus holding a snake as we go to 16th century Mexico to meet the Aztecs and their great leader Montezuma, but be careful not to get sacrificed!
Britain Since the 1930’s – How have the lives of men, women and children changed since the 1930’s – a whirlwind tour though each decade up to the present day!
Romans – Julius Caesar has had a great idea to impress his friends – overthrow Britain! Take a trip with us down a Roman road as we ask – what have the Romans ever done for us?
The Titanic – Sail away with us on the unsinkable ship! Meet the crew and passengers, take a tour of the wonderful sights on board, but just keep a look out for icebergs on the way!
Tudors – Meet King Henry VIII, bow to Queen Elizabeth and help Sir Francis Drake sail the world, buy a potato off Sir Walter Raleigh and be in a Shakespeare play. Just watch you don’t lose your head!
Victorians – Bow to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, travel with Robert Louie Stephenson on a steam train and go on holiday – to the seaside! Meet the pioneers, but cor blimey governor – don’t get stuck up the chimney on the way!
Vikings – Join Olaf the Berserker and Helga the Terrible for a look around their village – be brave and come with us on a Viking raid swapping heroic poems and sagas on the way.
WW2 – Join Cor Blimey Jim and his family around the wireless to find out how life changed once WW2 starts, food rationing, being evacuated, and crowding into the air raid shelter. Black market sausage anyone?
