SHAKESPEARE DRAMA WORKSHOPS: KS3
Currently pupils have to study a Shakespeare text during KS3, and our drama workshops are a great way to get pupils to engage with the work. The drama workshops gets the pupils on their feet, with warm up drama games to introduce them to the themes and characters of the play, then challenging them to put on a modern condensed version either of the whole play or of selected scenes within the workshop. Our drama workshops are not about the pupils understanding or interpreting every word, but about them exploring the issues, themes and characters of the play, getting a chance to work with the language and seeing the text as something to be performed.
We always aim that the pupils will put on their short performance to an invited audience, so pupils have an end outcome in sight and feel involved in the process.
We can work with one class for an entire school day looking more in depth at the play chosen, or with two classes on a two hour drama workshop.
