New research shows that children can be getting as little as four hours of sleep a night. No wonder they find it hard to concentrate in school. I’m 34 and I get tetchy and easily distracted if I get less than 9 hours a night. (And happily spend the day feeling sorry for myself.) It is a good job we have comfortable beds here at Act on Info towers.
So a trial has begun in Glasgow to give sleep lessons in school. Apparently if young people follow a bedtime routine and get 10 hours of sleep a night then they are more able to function properly in school and less likely to fall asleep during lessons. Mind you there are some classes through which no-one can stay awake! I love the idea of sleep lessons. In fact I’m off right now to write a sleeping drama workshop. I’ll just have a little nap first…
